Reverse description The reverse features a stylized emblem of three interlocking rings forming a trefoil knot motif at center, symbolizing unity, interaction, and confidence among the CICA member states, rendered in smooth relief against a brushed field. The dates '1992' and '2022' flank the central device, marking the 30th anniversary of the initiative. The acronym 'CICA' is inscribed below the central motif in Latin script. A bilingual circular legend in Latin and Cyrillic scripts runs along the full periphery of the coin, commemorating the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia.

Additional information

CICA — the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia — was formally proposed by Kazakhstan's President Nursultan Nazarbayev at the United Nations in 1992, just months after the Soviet collapse left the newly independent state searching for a credible multilateral role in the region. The organization held its first summit in Almaty in 2002, and Kazakhstan has used the chairmanship and anniversaries aggressively as occasions for commemorative coinage.

Copper-nickel circulation commemoratives of this type were struck in large numbers for general release rather than collector sets.
