| 正面描述 | The national coat of arms of Samoa occupies the central field, depicting a quartered shield bearing a coconut palm and the Southern Cross constellation, surmounted by a Latin cross and set against a globe, the whole encircled by a wreath of olive branches. A scroll beneath the shield bears the national motto in Latin lettering. The legend SAMOA I SISIFO arcs along the upper periphery, while the denomination $100 is inscribed in large characters along the lower periphery. |

Issued to coincide with the United Nations' International Convention on the Rights of the Child, which opened for signature in January 1990 and was ratified with unusual speed by a large number of states that same year. Samoa's participation in such commemorative programs during this period reflected its growing engagement with UN-affiliated causes following independence in 1962.
The .9167 fineness — 22-karat — places this squarely in the crown gold tradition used across many Commonwealth commemorative issues of the era, chosen largely for its scratch resistance in proof presentation.
