Obverse description The obverse is dominated by an intaglio portrait of Mzee Jomo Kenyatta, the First President of Kenya, at centre-left, set against a multi-coloured guilloche underprint in violet and green tones. The Kenyan national arms appears to the right of the portrait, with the denomination numeral '100' rendered in large red figures at lower right and upper left. Text inscriptions identify the issuing authority in both Swahili and English, with the legal tender declaration and the Swahili denomination 'SHILINGI MIA MOJA' printed in bold lettering at centre right.

Reverse description The reverse presents a vignette of the seated bronze statue of Jomo Kenyatta on its plinth, set before the cylindrical Kenyatta International Conference Centre tower in Nairobi, with a snow-capped Mount Kenya visible in the background and the conference centre's domed roof at lower right. A spray of coffee plant branches with red berries is rendered in fine intaglio at the left margin, providing a reference to Kenya's principal export crop. The overall colour scheme is executed in blue, violet, and pale green tones with the denomination numeral '100' in red at upper left and lower left.
