| Obverse description | Central field depicts Margrave Leopold III standing facing, clad in scale armour and holding a lance or banner staff upright, flanked by two armoured knights at left and one at right, all rendered in a medieval manuscript-inspired relief style. The figure of Leopold is prominently raised, conveying regal authority, while the flanking knights carry a shield bearing a crescent motif in the lower field. The circumferential legend reads REPUBLIK ÖSTERREICH at top, with the date split 19 - 96 at left and right sides respectively, and the denomination 100 SCHILLING arching along the lower rim. |
