Additional information

India's railway electrification program, which began in earnest in the 1990s and accelerated dramatically after 2014 under a Ministry of Railways mandate, reached 100% broad gauge electrification of its route network in 2023 — one of the largest such infrastructure completions in rail history. The commemorative issue marks that achievement, struck in a quaternary silver alloy that the Indian Government Mint has favored for its 100-rupee collector series since the denomination's introduction.
