Beschrijving keerzijde The central field features a sculptural group in high relief depicting multiple figures from India's independence struggle, evoking a well-known mural commemorating the Quit India Movement of 1942; a standing figure at the apex raises an arm and a flag in a gesture of defiance, while surrounding figures in various dynamic poses convey mass popular resistance. The legend 'भारत छोडो आंदोलन' in Devanagari and 'QUIT INDIA MOVEMENT' in Latin script arc across the upper field. The date range '1942–1992' is inscribed in the lower central field, with 'स्वर्ण जयंती' in Devanagari and 'GOLDEN JUBILEE' in Latin script completing the lower legend. The entire design is framed by a beaded border consistent with the obverse.

Aanvullende informatie

The Quit India Movement — launched by Gandhi on August 8, 1942 — triggered one of the most widespread acts of civil disobedience in British India's history, resulting in the arrest of nearly the entire Congress leadership within 24 hours. The British response was swift and brutal enough that the movement was largely suppressed within six weeks, though it permanently damaged colonial legitimacy. This coin marks the 50th anniversary of that campaign.

At .500 fineness, the silver content is notably low for a commemorative of this type — a reflection of Indian mint economics in the early 1990s rather than any ceremonial intent.
