| Reverse description | A detailed high-relief depiction of the Grand Mosque and Islamic Centre in Malé occupies the central field, showing the domed main prayer hall, a tall minaret to the left, and the colonnaded facade of the complex with steps leading to the entrance. Below the mosque, the date of opening is inscribed in both Arabic-Indic numerals and Latin script: '١٤٠٥ ١٨-١١' above '11 NOVEMBER 1984'. The commemorative legend 'GRAND MOSQUE AND ISLAMIC CENTRE' curves along the lower left margin in Latin lettering, preceded by 'OFFICIAL OPENING OF'. Dhivehi text in Thaana script surrounds the upper and left portions of the field, recording the occasion in the national language.
