| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse presents an elaborate allegorical composition celebrating the Republic of Bashkortostan. Within a decorative cartouche at left, three figures in traditional Bashkir national dress are depicted above a scene of apiarists tending beehives and a woman preparing koumiss, with a mare and foal below. At centre, two oil derricks dominate the mid-ground, flanked to the right by nodding-donkey petroleum pump jacks, with combine harvesters and ears of grain beneath, and an oil refinery rendered in the lower field. Mountains form the background, and a stylised Kurai flower graces the upper field. The legend «БАШКОРТОСТАН» (BASHKORTOSTAN) is inscribed along the upper rim on a matted ornamental cartouche. |

This piece belongs to Russia's "Regions of the Federation" commemorative program, a sprawling series launched by the Central Bank in the 1990s to issue large-format silver pieces honoring individual constituent republics and oblasts. The Bashkortostan issue commemorates a republic whose incorporation into the Russian state dates formally to 1919, though Bashkir autonomy claims stretch back to agreements made with Moscow as early as 1557 under Ivan IV.
At over a kilogram of .925 silver, production runs for these regional issues were typically kept in the low hundreds, making secondary-market appearances infrequent.
