Descrizione del dritto	The obverse is executed in blue and green tones on a multicolour underprint of guilloche and traditional geometric patterning. An intaglio portrait of Nelson Mandela occupies the right-centre, rendered in fine line engraving and surrounded by a circular microtext vignette; to the left, the South African coat of arms appears above the Governor's signature and title. A vertical SARB windowed security thread runs through the centre, and a colour-shifting elephant hologram element appears at lower right, accompanied by an optically variable numeral cluster along the right margin.

Descrizione del rovescio	The reverse, predominantly in blue and gold, centres on a bold intaglio vignette of an adult Cape Buffalo with calf standing in grass, set against a sunburst guilloche and traditional Ndebele-style geometric underprint. The denomination numeral '100' and 'RAND' appear in the upper left and lower right respectively, with the serial number printed twice — vertically in red at left and horizontally in black at upper right. Bank name inscriptions in Sepedi and Tsonga are rendered in letterpress along the upper and lower margins.
