In the middle distance to the right, the neoclassical facade of buildings framing the square and Nelson's Column surmounted by its statue are rendered in shallower relief, conveying depth and perspective. The field is otherwise unlettered, allowing the sculptural composition full visual impact. The engravers' combined initials G.D.LC appear incused at the lower centre of the design. |
