The Commonwealth Bank's £100 was among the highest denomination notes in Australian circulation, and its practical reach was deliberately narrow — equivalent to roughly three months' wages for an average worker in 1934, these moved between banks and major businesses rather than through retail hands. The Riddle-Sheehan signature combination places this within a specific administrative window: Richard Riddle served as Governor from 1927 to 1938, while H.T. Sheehan signed as Secretary.
Genuine circulated examples are genuinely difficult to locate. High-denomination notes were tracked closely, often redeemed promptly, and survive at far lower rates than their lower-denomination counterparts from the same series.
