| Reverse description | Printed in grey-blue on cream paper in the same tripartite letterpress format; outer panels repeat the '100 Pfg' denomination in cursive script on a chevron-striped ground with 'GÜSTROW' at top and bottom. The central vignette presents a stylised bull passant on a hatched ground, flanked by two decorative flower motifs, evoking the historic ox symbol of the city of Güstrow. |

Güstrow's municipal savings bank — the Städtische Sparkasse — issued this note during the acute small-change crisis of 1922, when German coin production simply could not keep pace with inflation eroding the value of existing denominations. Hundreds of German municipalities, utilities, and private firms issued their own Kleingeldscheine under similar pressure, making precise local attribution essential for serious Notgeld collectors.
The Hof- und Relatbuchdruckerei was Güstrow's own court and legal printing house, which kept production entirely local. That matters for condition expectations: provincial presses of this type rarely matched the ink consistency of Leipzig or Berlin trade printers.
