100 Pesos Zacatecas - Gold and Silver Proof Issue

Part of the Casa de Moneda de México's long-running state series, this issue commemorates Zacatecas — a state whose silver mines, worked continuously since the 1540s, produced an estimated one-fifth of all the world's silver during the colonial period. The irony of striking a bimetallic proof in both gold and fine silver is not lost on anyone familiar with the region's history: Zacatecas essentially bankrolled the Spanish Crown for two centuries.

KM#893 is one of the harder dates to source in fully matched proof condition, as the gold-silver interface is prone to contact marks from careless handling at the point of sale.
