| Additional information |
This issue belongs to a long-running Mexican mint series commemorating the insurgent currency issued by José María Morelos during the War of Independence. Morelos authorized crude copper siege coins at Oaxaca and other provisional mints from 1811 onward — emergency money stamped by a rebel army fighting the Spanish Crown, with no fixed standard and often barely recognizable as coinage. The contrast with this precision bimetallic commemorative is considerable.
KM#952 is one of several denominations in the series, each pairing the insurgent monetary tradition with modern Mexican minting technology at the Cerro del Cubilete facility.
