Obverse description Black on red underprint. The Colombian national arms appear as a central vignette, flanked at left by a standing statue of Simón Bolívar. The issuer's name is inscribed across the top, the face value in numerals occupies all four corners, and the denomination in words is superimposed over the central numeral. Place and date of issue are printed along the lower centre.

Reverse description Printed in brown throughout. A central oval vignette presents a panoramic view of the Plaza de Bolívar in Bogotá, framed by elaborate guilloche lacework and scrollwork borders with the denomination numeral 100 repeated in each corner. The issuer's name arcs around the upper border, and the imprint of Waterlow & Sons, Londres, Inglaterra appears at the foot of the note.
