| Obverse description | The obverse features the crowned coat of arms of Macau at centre, flanked by two kneeling winged angels: the dexter angel holds a cross-topped staff and the sinister angel holds an armillary sphere. Fourteen five-pointed stars are arranged around the periphery. The name 'MACAU' arcs along the upper legend in large raised letters, and the date '1987' appears prominently along the lower field. A scroll beneath the shield bears the city's historic motto in three parts: 'CIDADE DO NOME DE DEUS', 'NAO HA OUTRA MAIS LEAL', and 'DE MACAU'. |
