Additional information

Saint Paul's Walden Bury in Hertfordshire is the childhood home of Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, and this coin was issued as part of Bhutan's extensive run of foreign-themed commemoratives that proliferated through the 1990s — a deliberate revenue strategy by the Royal Monetary Authority targeting overseas collector markets rather than domestic circulation. The series had almost no connection to Bhutanese monetary history or culture.

KM#84 is one of dozens of similarly specified pieces from this period, struck to the same parameters as countless other Bhutanese commemoratives of the decade.
