Obverse description Oval cast copper flan with a raised linear rim enclosing a flat field. A central square perforation divides the vertical four-character Chinese legend into two pairs: the characters 琉球 (Ryūkyū) appear above the hole and 通寶 (Tsūhō, meaning 'circulating treasure') below, all rendered in relief in a bold, archaic script style characteristic of East Asian cast coinage.
