| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central field displays the crowned Libyan royal coat of arms, featuring an eagle displayed bearing a shield on its breast. The Arabic legend naming the Kingdom of Libya arcs above the arms along the upper periphery. Dual dating appears below the arms, presenting both the Hijri year (١٣٨٥) and the Gregorian year (١٩٦٥), separated by a dash. The coin is struck with a beaded border running along the inner rim. |

Libya's 1965 coinage was struck just four years before Muammar Gaddafi's coup ended the Senussi monarchy entirely. King Idris I, then in his mid-seventies and increasingly governing from Tobruk rather than Tripoli, would never see a subsequent issue — the 1965 series proved to be the final coinage of the kingdom.
