Issued clandestinely by the Liberation Front's executive committee during the Italian and German occupation of Slovenia, this note was produced under active wartime conditions — not in a secure printing facility but in occupied territory, which accounts for the relatively crude production compared to contemporary resistance currencies elsewhere in Yugoslavia. Božidar Jakac, who designed the note, was one of Slovenia's most respected printmakers and graphic artists, and his involvement was a deliberate political statement about cultural legitimacy as much as a practical necessity.
Both signatories — Josip Vidmar and Boris Kidrič — were central figures in the Slovenian resistance and OF leadership. Kidrič would later become one of the most powerful figures in postwar Yugoslav economic administration.
