背面描述	The central device depicts a stork in flight carrying a bunch of grapes, set before a radiant sun rendered in the field behind the bird. The denomination 100 LEI appears in the lower central field beneath the principal device. The upper peripheral legend reads PROCLAMAREA INDEPENDENŢEI followed by the commemorated date 1991, all in upright Latin capitals. A traditional Moldovan folk ornamental band occupies the lower portion of the field, with the mint year 1996 inscribed immediately above it.

附加信息	Moldova declared independence from the Soviet Union in August 1991, making this 1996 issue a fifth-anniversary commemorative. The National Bank of Moldova was itself only established in 1991, and early commemorative issues like this one were largely produced for the collector export market — hard currency Moldova badly needed during a decade of severe economic contraction and hyperinflation that had gutted the domestic leu.
