Obverse description The obverse features the coat of arms of the Republic of Moldova prominently displayed in the upper field, depicting an eagle displayed holding an olive branch and a sceptre, with a shield on its breast charged with the traditional Moldovan auroch head, star, rose, and crescent. The legend 'REPUBLICA MOLDOVA' arcs along the left and right periphery in bold Latin characters, with the date '2009' inscribed at the top between two small ornamental dots.
