The second issue 100 Krónur — note the Faroese spelling — was produced by Danmarks Nationalbank's own printing works in Copenhagen for circulation specifically in the Faroe Islands, a Danish territory with its own distinct banknote series since 1940. The Faroese króna is pegged at parity with the Danish krone but has never been legal tender in Denmark itself, an arrangement that has occasionally caused confusion for travelers.
The series ran across an unusually long window, with notes dated across sixteen years still circulating simultaneously.
