100 Kroner Second emergency issue

When Germany occupied Denmark in April 1940, British forces moved into the Faroe Islands within days to prevent the same fate. The islands' Danish-issued currency suddenly posed a problem: notes identical to those circulating in occupied Copenhagen could not be allowed to flow freely between the two territories. The solution was a local overissue — existing Danish notes were stamped and, for higher denominations, new notes printed specifically for Faroese use, cutting the island's currency off from the mainland supply.

Bradbury Wilkinson handled the printing in London. The microprinting security feature on this 100 Kroner is notable given the wartime constraints under which the series was produced.
