Beschrijving keerzijde Two speed skaters in dynamic low-tuck racing postures are depicted in high relief at the centre of the coin, conveying motion and athletic intensity. Above the central design, the official emblem of the 1994 Lillehammer Winter Olympic Games — comprising a stylised snowflake motif over the five Olympic rings — is prominently displayed. The circumferential legend, separated by a raised border, reads LILLEHAMMER 1994 to the left arc and 100 KRONER to the right arc, with a raised dot separator. The designer's initials NK appear in the lower field. The mirror-polished proof surfaces contrast elegantly with the frosted relief of the figural design.

Aanvullende informatie

Norway hosted the 1994 Winter Olympics at Lillehammer — the first Winter Games held just two years after a Summer Olympics, following the IOC's decision in 1986 to stagger the cycles. Speed skating at Lillehammer produced some of the most watched moments of those Games, including Johann Olav Koss's three gold medals, each set with a world record. This coin was struck three years before the event, part of Norway's extended commemorative program that began issuing Olympic pieces well ahead of the Games.
