| Aanvullende informatie |
Laos established the People's Democratic Republic on December 2, 1975, abolishing the 600-year-old monarchy under King Savang Vatthana, who died under murky circumstances in a re-education camp several years later. This 1985 issue — struck for the tenth anniversary — was produced almost entirely for the export collector market, as gold coinage had no practical role in a command economy where even basic consumer goods remained rationed.
