Albania's 1926 coinage program was Ahmet Zogu's deliberate assertion of statehood barely two years after he'd declared himself President — and just two years before he'd go further and crown himself King. The "Prova" designation marks this as a pattern issue, struck for official examination rather than circulation. The Rome mint handled Albania's coinage throughout this period, and copper provas at this weight and size were almost certainly produced to test die quality and coin geometry before committing to a precious-metal production run.
