| 裏面の説明 | The denomination 100 FRANCS is prominently displayed in large numerals at the center of the field, with the two zeros of '100' rendered in an open ring style. Above the denomination, the national symbol of the Comoros — a crescent moon accompanied by four five-pointed stars — is depicted in relief. The date 1977 appears below the denomination, flanked by small decorative elements. The issuer's name INSTITUT D'EMISSION DES COMORES curves around the left and right periphery, all within a beaded inner border. |

The FAO coin program, launched in the 1960s, commissioned member nations to issue special currency promoting agricultural development and food security initiatives — the Comoros issue of 1977 falls squarely within that framework. The Institut d'Émission des Comores had only recently taken over monetary authority following the archipelago's unilateral declaration of independence from France in 1975, a declaration so abrupt that France initially refused to recognize it.
KM#13 is among the earliest issues of the post-independence monetary authority, struck just two years into a deeply unstable political period that would see multiple coups before 1980.
