| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse presents a right-facing portrait bust of President Diori Hamani, first President of the Republic of Niger, rendered in fine relief with careful attention to facial detail including his characteristic glasses. The effigy occupies the central field with ample surrounding space. The circular legend 'PRÉSIDENT DIORI HAMANI • RÉPUBLIQUE DU NIGER' arcs around the full periphery of the coin, with the title and name along the lower arc and the country name continuing along the right side, executed in clean incuse lettering consistent with Monnaie de Paris engraving style. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Hamani Diouri was Niger's first post-independence president, having led the country since the French departure in 1960. By 1968 his government was consolidating a single-party state under the Nigerien Progressive Party, and this essai — a trial strike produced for official approval rather than general circulation — reflects the prestige coinage ambitions of a government still building its institutional identity. France's Monnaie de Paris produced virtually all Niger's coinage in this period, including its pattern issues.
Diori was overthrown in a military coup in April 1974, ending fourteen years in power.
