Reverse description The reverse presents a detailed depiction of the Ad-Dayr (the Monastery), one of the most celebrated rock-cut monumental facades of the ancient Nabataean city of Petra in modern-day Jordan. The classical Hellenistic-influenced facade is shown with its characteristic urn-topped tholos and flanking half-pediments, carved directly from the rose-red sandstone cliff face. The inscription PETRA arcs along the upper field, with the date 2016 positioned below, completing the legend.
