Aanvullende informatie

Helmut Schmidt governed West Germany from 1974 to 1982, navigating the oil shocks and the Baader-Meinhof crisis with a reputation for cold pragmatism that earned him the nickname "Schmidt-Schnauze." The Republic of the Congo has no historical connection to him whatsoever. This coin exists because the Congo issues small-denomination gold pieces under licensing arrangements with European bullion distributors — Schmidt's face here is a commercial decision, not a commemorative one.
