The upper portion of the reverse is dominated by a finely struck, raised effigy of a blue whale (Balaenoptera musculus) depicted in profile swimming to the left, rendered in polished relief against a vivid blue-colored ocean field that fills the upper two-thirds of the coin. A small diver figure appears in the colored field to the right of the whale, conveying the animal's immense scale. The lower third of the reverse is uncolored and features the WWF panda logotype within a square cartouche at center. The Latin binomial legend BALAENOPTERA MUSCULUS curves along the lower rim, and the date 2015 is inscribed vertically along the right inner edge at the boundary of the colored and uncolored fields. |
