| 裏面の説明 | Entirely blank field bearing multiple concentric lathe-turned die lines radiating from the centre, a characteristic feature of obverse-only essai pieces produced at the Monnaie de Paris. The surface shows the tool marks of the die-turning process without any decorative or inscriptional elements, confirming this piece was struck solely to test the obverse die. |

Essais of the French Protectorate Tunisian coinage were struck at Paris as trial pieces for approval before circulation dies were committed — Ahmad II Bey, who ruled Tunisia from 1929 until his death in 1942, was nominally sovereign while France controlled all administrative and monetary decisions. The gilt bronze composition here is characteristic of the less prestigious tier of essai striking; a full gold version in the same design was also produced, making this the more accessible of the two parallel trial types.
