| Obverse description | Three giant eland (Taurotragus derbianus) depicted in left-facing profile, their elongated spiral horns extending prominently toward the upper field. The animals are rendered in fine relief against a stylized background of crossed savanna grasses. The bilingual country name CAMEROUN - CAMEROON arcs along the upper rim, while the engraver's signature G.B.L.BAZOR appears to the right, and the Monnaie de Paris mint mark is visible at the lower field. |

The BCEAC was a transitional institution, issuing coinage on behalf of a monetary union that would be restructured into the Banque des États de l'Afrique Centrale in 1972 — the same year this piece was struck. Coins bearing the BCEAC name were phased out almost immediately after, making late-dated examples like this one short-lived survivors of an institution in its final months.
