| 裏面の説明 | Three tall palm trees dominate the central foreground, their fronds extending toward the upper field. A receding row of palm trees extends across both sides of the background, creating a sense of depth. The Hijri and Gregorian years are inscribed in Arabic numerals on either side of the central palm group, with both calendar dates presented in parallel. The composition reflects the agricultural and cultural significance of the date palm to Iraq. |

Iraq's 1970s coinage was produced under the Ba'ath Party government that had consolidated power following the 1968 coup. The 100 Fils denomination sat at the top of the circulating coinage hierarchy during this period, when oil nationalization in 1972 fundamentally restructured the Iraqi economy and briefly flooded state coffers before regional instability set in. Most pieces in this series were struck at the British Royal Mint or the Royal Mint's contract facilities, a sourcing arrangement that persisted even as Iraqi political rhetoric turned sharply against Western influence.
