Obverse description The obverse depicts the coronation procession of Maria Theresa as Queen of Hungary at Pressburg (now Bratislava) in 1741. At center, Maria Theresa is shown mounted on a rearing horse, robed in richly ornamented coronation regalia and wearing the Crown of St. Stephen, raising a sword aloft in the traditional show of knightly prowess. Crowds of courtiers and onlookers flank the procession in the lower field, while the architectural skyline of Pressburg is rendered in fine detail in the background. The scene is enclosed by a beaded inner border, with the Latin legend REPUBLIK ÖSTERREICH 100 EURO STEPHANSKRONE inscribed around the upper periphery.
