| Description du revers | The reverse celebrates the 20th anniversary of the Euro through an artistically layered design centred on a stylised rendering of the numeral '20'. The hollow of the '2' contains an olive branch, a motif with deep roots in French numismatic tradition, having adorned 1-franc coins since the monetary reform of the Fifth Republic. The letter 'O' is rendered as a bisected €2 coin, its two halves juxtaposing Joaquin Jiménez's original 1999 national-face design with the revised national face introduced in January 2022, allowing direct visual comparison of the engraver's evolving 'tree of life' motif in its original and contemporary forms. The date '2022', the inscription '20 ANS DE L'EURO', and the Republican initials 'R F' appear within the legend, along with 'LIBERTÉ ÉGALITÉ FRATERNITÉ' and the engraver's signature 'J. JIMENEZ'. |
