Two crowned lions rampant act as heraldic supporters on either side of the central achievement. The legend REGIAO AUTONOMA DOS ACORES arcs along the upper periphery, while the date 1980 appears prominently at the base, flanked by small decorative stars. The mintmaster's initials are inscribed discreetly beneath the shield. The overall design is rendered in high relief in proof finish. |

Two laurel branches frame the lower portion of the design on either side, lending a classical numismatic character to the composition.
