| Opis awersu | The obverse displays the coat of arms of the Autonomous Region of the Azores centrally positioned in the field, featuring a quartered shield surmounted by an eagle with two gyrfalcons as supporters flanking the shield, and a decorative banner bearing a motto in the exergue. Two crowned lions rampant act as heraldic supporters on either side of the central achievement. The legend REGIAO AUTONOMA DOS ACORES arcs along the upper periphery, while the date 1980 appears prominently at the base, flanked by small decorative stars. The mintmaster's initials are inscribed discreetly beneath the shield. The overall design is rendered in high relief in proof finish. |

| Opis rewersu | The reverse presents the denomination 100 ESCUDOS in bold raised numerals and lettering prominently at the centre of the field. The legend REPUBLICA PORTUGUESA arcs along the upper periphery, with the word ACORES inscribed along the lower border. A stylised Portuguese armillary sphere emblem appears above the denomination at the top of the field. Two laurel branches frame the lower portion of the design on either side, lending a classical numismatic character to the composition. The entire surface displays a deeply mirrored proof finish with frosted device relief. |
