The centre bears the denomination CEM ESCUDOS in large letterpress type over a multicolour guilloche underprint incorporating a globe motif, with the Portuguese royal arms vignette positioned below centre. Two manuscript signatures appear at the foot of the note, captioned O ADMINISTRADOR and O GOVERNADOR respectively. |

The denomination CEM ESCUDOS appears in a rectangular panel at the foot of the design. |
