| Reverse description | Conjoined busts in high relief of a Huron woman and a European Jesuit missionary facing left, juxtaposed to commemorate the 350th anniversary of the founding of the Sainte-Marie among the Hurons mission. The Huron figure, positioned in the foreground, is adorned with feathers, beaded necklace, and traditional dress, while the missionary behind her wears a broad-brimmed hat. In the lower right field, a detailed depiction of the mission's log chapel and palisade structure is rendered in fine engraved relief. The dates 1639 and 1989 flank the legend SAINTE-MARIE along the upper arc, while CANADA 100 DOLLARS curves along the lower periphery. The engraver's initials DJC appear in the lower central field. |
