Ned Kelly was hanged at Melbourne Gaol in November 1880, and the armour he fabricated from ploughshares — which stopped multiple police bullets at the Glenrowan siege before a shotgun blast to his unprotected legs brought him down — survives today in the State Library of Victoria. Niue has issued commemorative gold under licensing arrangements since the 1990s, producing legal tender coins with Australian cultural subjects that the Reserve Bank of Australia itself would never authorize.
