| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse presents a dramatic colorized and sculpted composition evoking the Apollo lunar landings. In the foreground, two astronauts in full extravehicular spacesuits are depicted in high relief on the lunar surface, flanking a detailed rendering of the Apollo Lunar Module to the left. The background field is treated with vivid polychrome color printing depicting the Earth as seen from the Moon — the iconic 'Blue Marble' view showing continents, cloud formations and ocean — set against a deep space tableau of stars, nebulae, and a shooting star streaking across the upper field. The inscription 'EARTH · BLUE MARBLE' appears in raised lettering along the lower exergual arc. |

Niue's legal tender gold issues are produced under a longstanding arrangement with New Zealand, which remains responsible for Niue's defense and foreign affairs — an asymmetry that gives these coins their formal issuing authority without any corresponding domestic monetary infrastructure. The "Blue Marble" designation references the iconic 1972 photograph taken by the Apollo 17 crew, one of the few images in history to show Earth fully illuminated, and one of the most reproduced photographs ever made.
