The .9999 fineness designation, four nines, was the Mint's competitive differentiator; the Royal Canadian Mint had pioneered that standard, and Perth adopted it to capture buyers who viewed .9167 coins as a compromise.
KM#1779 spans the years when the fourth Jody Clark effigy of Elizabeth II was introduced across Commonwealth coinage, replacing the Ian Rank-Broadley portrait that had circulated since 1998.
