Beschrijving voorzijde Within a flat-bottomed circular border, two conjoined shields occupy the central field: the left shield bears the official emblem of the XIV Sarajevo Winter Olympic Games, and the right shield displays the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia coat of arms featuring a torch encircled by wheat sheaves with a red star above. The denomination appears in the lower portion of the field, rendered in both Cyrillic and Latin scripts. A bilingual legend in Cyrillic and Latin encircles the design, identifying the issuing state, while the date 1984 and the commemorative reference to 29·XI·1943 are also inscribed.

Beschrijving keerzijde At the centre of the reverse, two pairs figure skaters are depicted in dynamic relief performing a classic lift sequence: the male skater kneels on the ice while supporting his female partner, who extends one leg outward and raises her right arm gracefully above her head in an elegant pose. Both figures wear period skating attire and ice skates rendered in fine detail. The design is enclosed within a raised inner border, with the circumferential legend arranged around the upper arc reading XIV ZIMSKE OLIMPIJSKE IGRE, and the lower arc bearing the inscription SARAJEVO '84.

Aanvullende informatie

Yugoslavia hosted the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo — the first Winter Games held in a socialist country. The organizing committee's success in winning the bid over Sapporo and Gothenburg in 1978 was widely seen as a diplomatic achievement for Tito's non-aligned Yugoslavia, though Tito himself died in 1980 and never saw the Games. The commemorative coin program issued for Sarajevo was extensive, with multiple denominations and series released across silver and gold.

The .925 silver issues like this one were produced for collector sale rather than circulation, distributed largely through Jugoslovenska Legija and export channels.
