The Banco Nacional de Nicaragua during this period functioned simultaneously as the country's central bank and commercial bank — an unusual dual role that persisted until 1960. Notes in this series were printed by the American Bank Note Company under a long-standing contract that Nicaragua maintained through much of the mid-twentieth century.

The 1941–1945 date range spans the entirety of Nicaragua's formal alignment with the Allied powers during World War II, though the war's more immediate effect on the note was logistical: ABNC's wartime production priorities occasionally affected delivery schedules for Latin American clients, and some issues from this period show tighter print runs than the preceding decade.
