Obverse description The obverse displays the Venezuelan national coat of arms at centre, depicting a quartered shield with a sheaf of wheat, crossed swords and flags, and a white horse in full gallop, surmounted by an elaborate cornucopia and flanked by an olive branch to the left and a palm frond to the right. Two scrolls below the shield bear the inscriptions INDEPENDENCIA / 5 DE JULIO 1811 and LIBERTAD / 28 DE MARZO 1864, with a further scroll at the base inscribed DIOS Y FEDERACION. The peripheral legend reads ESTADOS UNIDOS DE VENEZUELA, with the weight, date, and fineness specification GR. 32,2580, the year of issue, and LEI 900 arranged around the lower field. The design is enclosed within a beaded border.
