Reverse description The reverse presents a bare, unadorned bust of Simon Bolivar facing right, rendered in high relief with finely detailed hair swept back from the forehead in the neoclassical manner characteristic of Barre's engraving style. The portrait is strong and idealized, with a clearly defined jaw and profile. The peripheral legend BOLIVAR LIBERTADOR arcs around the upper field, with the engraver's signature BARRE incused in small capitals at the base of the bust below the truncation. The design is contained within a beaded border consistent with the obverse.
