Reverse description A large, centrally positioned Dove Orchid (Peristeria elata), the national flower of Panama, is depicted in high relief with two partially opened buds flanking the main bloom on either side. The flower's distinctive dove-like interior is clearly rendered within the open petals, lending the design a naturalistic and elegant quality. A beaded border frames the composition along the inner rim. The legend PAZ Y PROGRESO arcs along the upper periphery, and the date 1978 is inscribed along the lower periphery, also within the beaded border.
