Opmerkingen

Argentina's provincial scrip issues of 1988–89 were a direct consequence of hyperinflation gutting the national money supply faster than the Banco Central could print replacements. Salta, like several other provinces, filled the vacuum by issuing its own austral-denominated notes — technically bonos, not legal tender in the federal sense, but accepted locally under financial duress.

Casa de Moneda production gave these provincial emissions an official appearance that helped public acceptance, though the underlying fiscal situation in Salta was precarious enough that redemption was never guaranteed.
